Why You Should Switch to Cruelty-Free

Why You Should Switch to Cruelty-Free

When you are applying your lipgloss or skin serum do you ever think about how the product got to the store shelves and into your hands? If not, you definitely should because many skincare and cosmetic products are still tested on animals before making it to stores across the globe. On the contrary to this, there are many companies including our own company NuReveal Skincare, that do not test on animals and are cruelty-free/vegan.

What is Animal Testing?

According to Humane Society International/Global, hsi.org, “animal testing” refers to “procedures performed on living animals for purposes of research into basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and/or environmental safety of consumer and industry products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, pharmaceuticals and industrial/agro-chemicals” (hsi.org, 2012). No products, especially non-essential products, are worth causing pain and suffering to innocent creatures. It is estimated that more than 115 animals are used in laboratory experiments each year (hsi.org, 2012).

Three Reasons You Should Switch to Cruelty Free Skincare Products

If the animal testing facts were not convincing enough, here are three reasons why you as a consumer should switch to cruelty-free skincare products:

  • No living creatures are harmed/killed, and you as a consumer still receive a high quality product- Non-animal use tests have been shown to better predict human responses than animal-use tests (hsi.org). Products like our Bright Star Scrub are never tested on animals, and are great for human skin!
  • Over 1,000 companies, including NuReveal Skincare, are “cruelty-free” (hsi.org)- With so many companies making the switch to cruelty-free why shouldn't their customers make the switch as well?
  • You will be saving innocent lives- If more and more consumers switch to cruelty-free products, the overall need for companies to test on animals could be eliminated all together, saving thousands of innocent lives.

  • So the next time you are looking to buy a skincare product be sure to check out whether or not the product is cruelty-free, and you could save lives and keep your skin healthy.
